Birds of Sorrow

I made this canvas for Rachel and forgot to post it. I found the quote in another artist's work in Somerset Studios and I knew that I needed to do something with it.

The eggs and the bird are both from some large papers that I purchased at the Paper Studio. I did some wet-on-wet painting for the background that turned out way too bright so I then applied a copper glaze that toned it down. The circles are stamps.

This weekend is General Conference weekend for our church. (Conference is a multi-part meeting run by the leaders of the LDS church. It is broadcast over cable and as a family, we watch it together at home.) Since I find that I listen better when my hands are busy, I always save up my mending and various small projects that can be easily completed in front of the TV. So, this weekend, I'll be mending all the broken and bruised toys, reattaching buttons that fell off of pants and shirts and glittering some things for the vintage swap that I'm participating in. If I have time, I'll start on Halloween costumes since there are a few excited little people living here. In fact, tears were shed last night because I hadn't completed any costumes yet. Needless to say, I had a little trouble being sympathetic since it has only been 2 days since Costume Deadline. There is just so much excitement in the air. It is hard for anyone to be logical.

I hope you have a wonderful, productive and inspirational weekend!

I liked your photo challenge at BG...you can see on my blog that I took a "tilted" photo of Sarah that turned out fun and energetic.

See you in a bit!
