Four Little Poppets All in a Row

As promised, here is a photo of one of my Christmas gifts this year. I made these little poppets (heads are about 2.5 inches wide) for my mother-in-law. They are paper backed with sheet metal to make them sturdier. I got this idea from an article by Claudine Hellmuth in Cloth, Paper, Scissors. Of course, I lost the magazine and had to improvise, but I think that they turned out pretty darn cute anyway. I was quite the nervous ninny giving them away because they are so different, but I heard that she liked them. Unfortunately, the photo is slightly blurry due to a child print on my lens that I caught a few days late. (I was wondering why all my photos had a dreamy quality to them.)

I have a few more projects to post, but you'll have to wait a few days because their recipients haven't received them yet. I thought that I mailed everything on time, but apparently not.

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. I certainly did. Big Man and Mamacita were so very generous in the supplies department that I've set to revamping my supply storage system. I cannot wait to finish so I can get creating again! When I'm done, I'll show you some astounding Before and After photos. Of course, I'm not getting rid of much since every scrap and package has alterable possibilities, I'm merely rearranging so that I can find all my stuff, ummm, eventually.

The kids had a great Christmas too. It was just joyous to have the entire family together with no schedule. Big Man took Monday off so we were together 4 days straight. Heavenly. A total vacation for all of us. On Christmas Eve we spent the morning cleaning so that Santa would see that we knew how to take care of our toys and he would leave more. The entire house was clean and the entire family pitched in. We had teams. The boys were in charge of the yard and the boy room, the girls were in charge of their room and Snukie and I were in charge of vacuuming and overall management. To celebrate our success, we went out to lunch. Very fun. Then we had rests, dinner and special pre-Christmas rituals.

The kids woke up around 4:40 AM on Christmas morning. Big Man informed them that it wasn't morning yet so they played in their room until around 6 AM. We opened gifts around 6:30 AM. We spent the rest of the day playing and reading. It was wonderful. I had such a great time with everyone.

Too bad it can't last more than a day. It was sad to kiss Big Man goodbye this morning as he went to work, but such is life. The kids and I had a good day together though. We got boots for our winter foray next week, took Snukie to the doctor for her year check, ate Wendy's for lunch and finished the day at the park. Mr. Moonie brought his new excavator and walked it all around it like a dog. It was pretty funny. We now call it his excavator pet. Sweetpea thought that was an especially clever name. I did too.
