I've been very busy altering things. Here are some of my recent creations. I hope that you enjoy them! I made this star for my front room. I love how it turned out. I used prints that I bought in France in high school for each facet. I was sick of them and I'm so glad that I gave them new life here.
The back of the star is completely different. I wanted something bright for Spring and Summer.
This tin was an old water chestnut container that I washed and altered into a holder for my little embellishments on my scrap table. I used Foof-a-La and DCWV paper. The stamps are Prima. My sweet mom ordered them for me. Thanks Mamacita! Ink is Ranger walnut stain. Buttons are from Michaels. Hands are Sweetpea's. She is an excellent model and is ever willing to pose even when I'm demanding.
I got the idea for this ornament from a tutorial that Lisa Garay did on SisTv on using a personal laminator to make mini-albums. I cut a doily to a small size, put in through the laminator, cut it into an appropriately-sized circle and jammed it into a glass ball. I glued maya road velvet ribbon around the edges to cover up the laminated seam. It turned out magical. Beastly to photograph, though. I've got a mini-album using the same method ready to go as soon as I take snow photos. Can't wait. I'll post that in January.
And here is another layout that I did for a challenge on Bad Girls.
Journaling: As a child, I thought that it was strange to have a Santa perched at the top of a Christmas tree. It should be a star, or an angel, like we had. But my grandparents hung this Santa in the place of honor every year without fail. And so, he has come to represent Christmas to me. When I see him, I think of the love I felt in my grandparent’s home. The stockings that always had an orange, an apple and a small stuffed animal. The packages piled high. The envelopes containing checks slipped into the tree. The delicious dinner. The laughter and the hugs. And the evening when we would pile into the car to go home and everything was beautiful and peaceful and the entire world lay at my feet.
Cardstock: Bazzil
Pattern Paper: American Crafts (cut out leaves)
Stickers: Creative Imaginations: Narratives by Karen Russell; Glitter alpha Making Memories
Pens: zig, micron
Buttons: Joanns; Dress It Up
Other: Sparkle stars: KI Memories; Brads and Metal words Making Memories; Hambly overlay, red acrylic paint
To make those large paint circles, I brushed red acrylic paint on large bubble wrap and stamped. It serendipitously looks like a tree so that is pretty cool.
This week is our Winter Hurrah cybercrop at Scrap Shanty. I hope that you'll come join us! I'm doing a 5 day class on journaling called: The Soul of our Art. Hope to see you there!
