This is why I scrap

This weekend I had one of those this is why I scrap moments with Sweetpea. I had just completed a layout of her and she spied it amongst all of my piles of projects. She unearthed it and asked me if she was the girl in the photos. (For some reason, she never recognizes herself in pictures. Not like she hasn't ever seen a photo of herself since I take like 200 photos a month!) When I answered in the affirmative, she got this big sweet smile on her face and gave me a hug. Then she pointed out various elements of the design and we chatted a bit about it. A great moment. Afterwards, she got a bit curious about my next layout about Snukie and was fiddling a bit with embellishments. She put the cutest little hair flower together with a few of my scraps and placed it on Snukie's photo. Since I was deep in art, I wasn't totally paying attention. Later, when I came back to my table, I saw the embellished Snukie photo and LOVED what she did! So, I have a budding artist here. How exciting. When I complete the layout, I'll show you what she did. Fantastic.Journaling: Danika loves the piano. She sits down just to play at least once a day, works ahead in her book, asks to perform for guests, makes up new melodies based on her pieces, writes her own music (see left) and very happily practices whenever told (or not told!) She can’t wait for her recital! It is such a joy to see her in her element. 9.07
Techniques: I used Inque Boutique stamp on felt, cut it out and flipped it over for flowers. Used my daughter’s music as pattern paper (between photos).
Cardstock: Bazzil
Pattern paper: Love, Elsie
Stamps: Inque Boutique: Doodle Flower
Ink: Ranger black soot
Pens: zig
Other: Heidi Swapp chipboard alpha, felt, making memories brads; American Crafts foam arrow

My mom took these photos of Sweetpea on her last visit here. Isn't she just the photographic genius? I changed them to black and white so that the distracting background wouldn't be so, well, distracting.

I love the way this LO turned out. The black and white makes me think of a piano and the pink adds that little pop. I made the felt flowers by taking an Inque Boutique chunky flower stamp and stamping on felt. (From Doodle Flowers) I cut it out then flipped the felt over so you can't see the ink. Turned out perfect! The little flower notes are also stamps I used pink ink then outlined in black. I love to use stamps as a base for doodling. It is fast becoming one of my favorite techniques.

I also have a birthday card that I whipped up for my niece, Samantha's birthday this month. It turned out very cute.

To make this, I again used Inque Boutique Stamps. I stamped the flower petals on text, cut out the flower and adhered to cardstock. I stamped the words and the dots and then doodled around everything. The flower is colored with Judikins watercolor crayons. This was a very simple and fun one to do.

I am having so much fun with my art. I've been responding to challenges on various sites and it has just been a great jump-start to my creativity. So, if you need a boost, go to one of my favorite places sites (see left) and find a challenge and do it! Then let me know so I can see your work. Have fun!
