A Quick Hello

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to pop in to say a quick hello. We are in full-school swing now. The oldest 4 started school last week and #5 starts preschool on Thursday morning. Leaving me only baby Wy twice a week in the morning. I'm feeling much more creative and finding a little bit more time to fuss and fidget in my studio now that school has begun and the house is quiet for a few hours a day. I don't create well when I'm constantly interrupted. It makes me quite crabbish.

I found a very inspirational podcast that you really must check out. The Accidental Crafter. Todd Henry, the author of The Accidental Creative and moderator of the podcasts is fabulous. I love this positive outlook based in reality. If you have a few minutes, this is a site that is worth it.

I just completed a large abstract piece for E's room in bright rainbow colors that I'll share later, but here is an art journal page that I completed this summer. I was inspired by both Van Gogh in its creation and a lovely children's book whose title is long forgotten. It was about a black cat that travels through France to find his home. I believe it was something like a Cat in France, but don't hold me to that. I loved the book, partly because of the beautiful illustrations and partly because it was about my first love, France.

This is from my grand journal. I love working big. The big strokes of paint. The utter abandon. The quote is from Eleanor Roosevelt. Zoey's final 3rd grade presentation has really influenced my journal this summer.

Here's a close-up of the loose shading. Boy, was that fun to do!

On another happy note, Connie and Gerald returned from California last week. They came home in a huge package filled with peanuts and bubblewrap. It was like opening a Christmas present. (Thank you Stampington for your kind treatment!) I was as pleased as punch to see them again. It was like greeting old friends after a long absence. I know they aren't alive, but it sure felt like it when I placed them on my shelf.

Silly, I know.

I'm just glad they're back. Now, we can chat about beaches and sunburns...

Have a great week!

xoxo

It's crazy to realize that so many of our little ones are in school now! I still remember Brisa and Z's first day of kindergarten!

Love your artwork as always :)

P.S. I'll be stopping by sometime on Saturday with an invite for Z to Brisa's upcoming birthday party...it's been FOREVER since I've seen you!
