I'd like to share a few pretty things I've found lately.
First, is this fabric.
I went to the fabric store yesterday with a very specific purpose and left with even more specific purposes. All of the fabrics are destined to be baby blankets. The two on the bottom are for a certain young man due in a few months and the two on the top are for a sweet little girl whom I don't know about yet. I fell completely in love with the pink bunny fabric and the green flowers just happened to be next to it. It was meant to be. (Oh, Mary, I do hope that you are having a little girl!)
My second and third finds are related. T and I have been married for almost 10 years. (I can't believe it either!) We received our everyday dishes as a wedding present. So we don't have many of them left thanks to chipping, moving and my habitual tendency to place them under large flowerpots as a water catcher. I've been searching for new dishes, but haven't found a set that I love yet. It seems as though they are all too flowery, or too modern or too something for my taste. So I decided that I don't need to purchase an entire set of matching dishes. I can simply go to Goodwill and pick and choose pretty dishes as I please. So that is exactly what I did. None of them match, but that is the beauty of it. You just never know which one you'll get to eat on. When fancy guests come over, I still have my matching china, but for family use, we're much more exciting now.
These are my current favorites. They remind me of my Grammy. I'm not exactly sure why.
While I was picking out dishes, my eyes wandered to another section of the Goodwill and I found these random objects. I'm not sure what their initial purpose-in-life was, but they are destined to be altered.
The dark one is especially exciting. Each square is an inch wide, deep and tall. Any ideas on what it was in its prior life? It came with an acrylic sheet that slides over the top. (It will be repurposed into another project.) The cashier at Goodwill thought that it had something to do with coins, like separating them or something. I'm not convinced. I'm thinking that it was probably a place for someone to display a thimble collection. At least that's my best guess.

I'm pretty sure you are right about your awesome brown shelf...my aunt had one just like it! (Why anyone would want that many thimble is beyond me, but that's beside the point!).
LOVE all your finds!! I am on the lookout currently for vintage cameras so if you every find one for $15 or less feel free to pick it up for me and I'll pay ya back :)
So sorry about this morning...sending virtual hugs your way too!
Lots of typos in my last comment...time for me to lay down and take a quick nap :)
I'm just about positive that the dark one is a thimble display shelf. Thimble collectors would have that many thimbles. Did you know Okiedokie Grandma has a thimble collection?? What cute dishes you got...a very clever idea!! Love and hugs to all at your house.
Ooooh, gorgeous fabric! Can't wait to see what you make out of that! And very cool finds! I need to go hunting for some stuff myself :-) Hope you're having a great weekend, bethany!
