With that in mind, I developed the theme: A Song of the Heart. My talk was on the unlikely history of Handel's Messiah and how his struggles parallel our own. I used the little hearts to make ornaments that the women took home as a reminder of the evening.
These little trees were the centerpieces on the tables.

Here they are close-up. I used Elsie Flannigan paper as well as Piggy Tales paper, glue glitter and ribbon. First, I painted the edges of the hearts red. Second, using Mod Podge, I adhered the paper to both sides of the wooden heart. Then I glittered the edges, drilled a hole for the ribbon and threaded it through. I made about 100 of these ornaments while watching TV at night. It was a very time-intensive project, but it certainly wasn't difficult.

Overall, I think that the evening went well. The women seemed to enjoy themselves and thanks to my prep work, I learned a lot about Handel and his life and times. I'm sure glad that I'm done though!

You forgot to mention how amazing your presentation of Handel was and how all the women raved about it...so I'll mention it for you :) And the hearts turned out so great!
Wow...wish I could have been there for the evening. Knowing you and how you put in ALOT of hard work on things like this, I can only imagine how well the evening went. Blessings all around..for those who listened and for the person who shared.
