There have been serious fires in fields near my home this week. They are far enough away that no one is concerned, but close enough that we have ash in our courtyard. It is pretty surreal to see a monstrous cloud blocking the sun each afternoon.
I haven't seen any smoke today so hopefully, the fires are all out. I was pretty nervous Thursday night that we'd be evacuated. I spent some time getting all our affairs in order in case we were, but it turned out I worried for nothing. No one else seems to be at all preoccupied. In fact, it isn't even a topic of conversation, but to me, they just seemed a bit too close for comfort. Yet, life continues as usual. So don't worry about us. We are safe and sound.

Oh I know! The smoke from the fire was out of control! I'm happy to hear that it wasn't too close to you. My mom (she lives in Goodyear) said that it looked awful when she was driving home.
Hi Bethany! I'm in town visiting my family -- I saw the huge plume of smoke when I flew in, it's incredible. I was thinking about you guys, hoping you were unaffected. Stay safe! I hope you don't have to evacuate. Next time I'm in town I'd love to meet you. xoxo
