IBSS April Kit

I did a review of the April Itty Bitty Scrap Shack kit on Scrap Shanty this month. And here are a few of my projects.

You may wonder how I got that unicorn to look dimensional. Well, it was actually a mistake that I needed to fix. I originally stamped the image poorly leaving part of the leg off. To fix it, I took a transparency, stamped with black StazOn, painted the body using acrylic paint, sparkled the hearts using stickles and adhered using a pop dot (thanks again Megan!) This makes it look 3D. Just goes to show you that sometimes even mistakes turn out great!

Journaling: Elyssa has always known exactly what she wants and how to get it. Case in point: that night she did not want to get out of the bath. So after I dressed her, she marched back to the tub and climbed in jimmies and all. 1.08

The blue background on Determined Girl is actually blue tulle that I stapled in place. I wanted a garden look with the hill, flowers and sky, but didn't have any blue cardstock so I just used tulle. It was tough to get it smooth and it was rough adhering things to it, but PVA worked wonders. I like the mixed-media effect.

And now for some personal updates. Sweetpea lost her tooth at school on Thursday. I was so excited for her! I always wanted to lose a tooth at school so I could get one of those awesome tooth necklaces, but alas, my dream never came to fruition. So I live vicariously through her triumph. She decided that she wants to keep her tooth for a bit so the toothfairy hasn't come yet. I'm totally cool with that because the whole loose tooth thing caught me completely off-guard. I don't have a special tooth pillow or bag or anything for her yet. Hopefully, she'll want to keep her treasure for another month so I can have time to catch-up on all my projects and get a tooth pillow made. My sewing machine is still in a box and I don't have a table for it yet so I'm going to need at least 3 more weeks. She's a pretty patient girl, so I might just make it.

Mr. Moonie turned 3 this week and we celebrated with family. He loved all of his presents which included a big T. Rex stuffed animal, a transformer (robot) and a Thomas train set. It was wonderful to see him so excited by all the activities. Everyone that walked into the house saw his chocolate cake and right after he blew out the candles, he leaned in a took a big bite out of the side. A bit unconventional, but effective. He got a very large piece so that no one had to eat his germs.

The sweeties are doing pretty well with the move. They are all scared at night because the house is different and Toodles is up nightly with "nightmares" which are really just midnight stirrings that require me to walk her hand-in-hand back to her room to tuck her in again. I'm also doing pretty well with the move. I still have billions of boxes to unpack, but our basic basic necessities are unearthed and placed so life is moving forward. I'm currently working out the whole cleaning routine since I now have a much bigger house to care for and I'm planning on enlisting the help of other family members which will be interesting.
